Our Bishop: Most Reverend Emilio E. Biosca, O.F.M Cap
Born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Cuban immigrant parents and Bishop Emilio is the third of seven children. He entered the Capuchin Franciscan order in 1984 and was ordained a priest in 1994.
Bishop Emilio spent 10 years serving as a missionary in Papua New Guinea, where he worked closely with local communities and became fluent in Melanesian Tok Pisin. He later served for 12 years as a missionary and pastor in Cuba before returning to the United States, where he served as pastor of the Shrine of the Sacred Heart in Washington, D.C.
A member of the Capuchin Franciscan Province of St. Augustine, Bishop Emilio has served in leadership roles within his religious community. He is fluent in English, Spanish and Melanesian Tok Pisin.
Bishop Emilio brings to the Diocese of Venice a deep missionary spirit, extensive pastoral experience, and a commitment to serving the Church and its people.
