Disaster Response
Supporting the community through a crisis

Catholic Charities Disaster Response Program has been established to meet the needs of the community before, during and after a disaster.
The program does not replace services already available through the Red Cross, FEMA, county emergency, or any other government or private agency. Rather, it works collaboratively with those agencies to offer assistance when disaster strikes.
The Disaster Amateur Radio Network (DARN) provides emergency/back-up communications for Catholic Charities Disaster Response Teams. DARN assists relief workers through a group of UHF/VHF base radio stations located in Venice, Port Charlotte, Naples, Fort Myers and Arcadia. Operators man the base stations or personal radio equipment at home or in vehicles. Volunteer licensed FCC amateur radio operators are always needed. Click HERE to find out more about DARN.
