Housing/Foreclosure Program
It's a big decision!

Bradenton-- The Foreclosure Prevention and Housing Program of Catholic
Charities has provided seven First Time Homebuyers classes in the six
months between January and June of 2009. A total of 71 students
attended.
The class provides much needed education regarding
the essentials for first time homebuyers such as personal budgeting and
money management, tax credits, importance of credit history, information
regarding lenders, lender requirements, and linking to potential funding
assistance for down payment and closing costs. Responsible borrowing and
planning for the costs associated with owning a home, after purchase,
are taught as well. The class also stresses the pitfalls of not
planning, including how to avoid foreclosure.
The daylong class provides four sessions of
information that arm potential first time homebuyers with questions to
ask and answers to seek before they purchase. Information combined with
realistic expectations and attainable goals are the focus of the class,
helping to empower possible new homeowners with the tools they need to
make responsible decisions that will yield positive results for years to
come.
