The power of hope

The power of hope is frequently underestimated. Hope as a powerful agent for change in a person’s life is often discounted. Hope allows people that are struggling to continue along the path of recovery no matter how blocked or seemingly unattainable the goal. When people come for help with their lives, whether families or individuals, often there are feelings of great despair, sometimes depression, loss or confusion. But that people come at all to counseling means one thing to the hope-centered counselor, that there is some measure of hope that lives somewhere inside of them.

It is this one tiny possibility that the counselor focuses on to assist the person in recharging their batteries, providing them with the positive charge of affirmation that is needed to continue to light the path of recovery. Recovery is work. Hard work. Whether it is depression, illness, substance abuse, or a loss, it is always work. And like all hard work, we get tired. Providing hope means providing possibility and energy to continue on.

Striking the balance between hope, reality, and goals allows for trust and love to begin to grow again where once it was seemingly lost.

If you are someone reading this who once recalls hope in your life, but now does not know where it is … please call us … you do not need to take this journey alone. We believe that you have the power to change and grow, to alter the current course of your own experiences, and we believe that somewhere in you, there is hope. Let us rediscover hope together.
