Venetian Charity Ball
Elegant fundraiser assists Catholic Charities of Lee County

Fort
Myers--Set
amid elegant decor and a stunning Venetian backdrop, more than 400
patrons attended the 10th Annual Venetian Charity Ball on February 28 at the Harborside
Convention Center in downtown Fort Myers. The night featured auctions, dinner and dancing,
but most importantly benefited Catholic Charities of Lee County.
Guest of honor Bishop Frank J. Dewane thanked ball chairwoman Nancy Bullyan and her committee for hosting a
splendid evening. Almost $90,000 was raised for Catholic
Charities.
Professional dancers entertained the crowd and
performed the Fox Trot, the Cha Cha and showcased Salsa dancing. Later,
the Paul Vesco Orchestra, known for its "Big Band" sound, provided music
for dancing.
A spirited live auction was held with several exciting getaways to destinations such as
the Czech Republic and a premier golf resort in Pinehurst, North
Carolina. Also auctioned off were a puppy, a chance for a dinner with Bishop Dewane,
and a quilt made by the children in the Catholic Charities After-School
Tutoring Program.
Catholic Charities of Lee County provides direct assistance,
case management, educational programs for children and adults, summer youth programs, translation services, employment assistance, counseling, immigration and citizenship services,
refugee services, senior services and outreach, a human trafficking
program, support/advocacy and special holiday projects. The ball is the
major fundraiser for the agency.
